Lovely news, via the Kirkintilloch Herald that Jo Swinson and Duncan Hames are expecting their first baby and he or she is due to put in an appearance on Christmas Day.
The Lib Dem MP made the announcement exclusively to the Herald, two years after marrying fellow MP Duncan Hames.
Jo (33) became the youngest MP in the House of Commons when she won the East Dunbartonshire seat in 2005 at the age of just 25 – continuing to be the so-called ‘Baby of the House’ until July 2009.
Now the MP, who was recently rushed to hospital after suffering an allergic reaction to a nut, is looking forward to having a baby IN the house!
She told the Herald: “We’re absolutely delighted to make the announcement having recently got the 12-week scan.
“It was quite overwhelming to have this image of a wee life moving around.
“Duncan made sure he got a picture to carry around and show everybody.
“We’re about 13 weeks now and the due date is actually Christmas Day.
“It’s said you very rarely actually give birth on the due date, but we have already been told by friends that we’ll need to make sure that there are separate presents and maybe a different ‘official’ birthday!”

Congratulations to all and let us hope that the new member to Team Swinson/Hames helps us keep existing/gain new voters in Chippenham and East Dunbarton!
And let us hope that Duncan takes his full entitlement to paternity leave!
That allergy scare must have been even more frightening when you realise that Jo was pregnant at the time.
So glad that that both Jo and baby are fine after that.
And congratulations to both Jo and Duncan; that will be an exciting Christmas; I remember my sister being due on Boxing Day a few years ago: makes for a busy couple of weeks!

In our experience babies rarely arrive on the due date, but if it does, our now eleven year old christmas day baby is doing just fine 🙂
