I just watched Norman Lamb on the Sunday Politics. He definitely comes across as a conviction politician. He doesn’t back down when Andrew Neil jumps in with criticisms – in fact he hardly lets him get them out of his mouth.
Norman seems a bit more liberal than I am, but he is still my favoured candidate. I was worried after seeing his interview on ITV because he seemed a bit red faced and not very strong, but this was much better.
I would urge a bit more pragmatism. Sometimes when the public doesn’t want “liberal” values then it is necessary to compromise a little bit to stop someone worse getting in. We shouldn’t be too dogmatic about it.
