In Wales: While Brecon and Radnorshire AM Kirsty Williams and Cardiff Central AM Jenny Randerson remain favourites, North Wales AM Eleanor Burnham launched her bid by promoting herself as a candidate best-placed to reconnect with Welsh speakers in the north.
In Scotland: Three weeks today the new Leader of the Scottish Liberal Democrats will be unveiled.

Isn’t there a vacancy in England also?
How does the nomination/election process work for the Welsh leadership election?
If there are six AMs then one is standing down, leaving two who are ‘favourites’, one who is putting herself forward and then two more.
I tipped Kirsty as a future (federal) leader years ago, so this is just a first step hopefully.
Good luck Kirsty!
@ Chris Paul “Isn’t there a vacancy in England also?”
Yes, but that’s for *Labour* leader.
@Ian: Candidates need one other AM to nominate them. Assuming that Mike German stays neutral after standing down, you’re correct that all three of them can’t stand.
Unless one AM nominates 2 candidates – is there anything that says you can’t do that…
Cymru Rydd – Cymru Ryddfrydol
Felix Holt – Who knows, Potentially, it could change under the constitutional review thats taking place at conference. Though I seem to remember that that section of the constitution has already been fiddled with recently. In short, I don’t know if they will be allowed to nominate two.
