Conservative Portsmouth councillor quits amidst claims of hate campaign

Portsmouth Conservative councillor Lee Hunt has quit the Conservative council group in a dispute over claims of a hate campaign and whether Flick Drummond, the Conservative candidate for Portsmouth South, is the right person to take on Liberal Democrat MP Mike Hancock.

The Portsmouth News reports:

A long-serving Tory councillor has quit his party after claiming he was the victim of a hate campaign.

Councillor Lee Hunt resigned as the Tory whip at a group meeting on Friday saying he could ‘no longer stomach’ his colleagues’ actions.

The Central Southsea councillor of 10 years says he was forced to quit because he spoke out against Southsea Town Council and refused to support the group’s parliamentary candidate, Flick Drummond, who is fighting Mike Hancock for his seat in the next general election.

  • Why are all these Tories called ‘Flick’ ? We’ve had Flick Cox booted out of the party, because… eh some association with Matt Lewis. Now we have another Flick.

  • These Tories enjoy their hate campaigns, don’t they.

  • Acton,
Conservatives like the concept of felicity, but they don’t like the reality.

The ex Tory Cllr, Lee Hunt will go back to Conservatives one day, mark my words!

  • Conservative, Liberal Democrats or Labour..makes no difference! My experience tells me that they are all liars, whether it’s right wing, left wing etc it’s all part of the same vulture that scavenges off the needy! At the moment I’m £3000 in debt this is partly due to a Mr Lee Hunt (lib dem Portsmouth) he approched my business partner saying that he could sort out an area suitable (hilsea lake) for us to operate our childrens activities (water walkerz) after two months of saving up enough cash & supplying all the nessecary paper work (public liability insurance..etc) we were ready to start..so we waited for conformation of the site (we had been led to believe that it was a done deal) after two weeks we started to get a bit concerned..so we called Mr Hunt again, and again..and again! No reply..so we emailed Mr Hunt..again and again! That was over 2 and a half months ago,we still havnt recieved any reply and the summer
season is over in 3 weeks..and I now have to try and find approx £3000 to pay off my debts.
So a big thanks to Mr Hunt..read the full story in the news..(that’s if we don’t get a reply by Friday)
