Lib Dem Conference app – your feedback please

Thanks to all of you who came to Federal Conference in Glasgow – I hope you enjoyed it!

We made many changes to the Conference App for Autumn Conference 2013 and we’d really like your feedback. We strive to improve the App each Conference so it would be much appreciated if you could spare a few minutes to give us your thoughts by filling in our survey here.

If you have any further questions on the App please email [email protected]

App more stable than last year – crashes less often.
Still a bit buggy with my schedule – screen messed up whenever I tried to scroll.

Would be helpful if the motions had line numbers so we could see what lines were being referred to in speeches.
Would also be helpful if amendments were put at the bottom of a motion’s page, rather than requiring us to find the “conference extra” PDF, then find the right page… 🙂

    Gets better each year though.
    Keep it up! 🙂

I had the app on both my phone (galaxy s2) and the iPad. I had a variety of crashes and lost my schedule 3 times and had to reconstruct it. When it becomes reliable the concept will be very useful … Especially if we can add our own events (eg 1030 meet candidate for coffee in exhibition).

The odd thing I can’t work out is why it took a long time for the app to start … Sometimes a very long time … Which suggests it was struggling to connect to a server, (not surprising in a busy place with lots of people and their phones!) if it was, why was it connecting … What for .? It certainly didn’t share my schedule from my phone to my iPad which would have been useful.

In a perfect world it would be possible to store notes during each training session for later review.

Anyway a bit flaky but a very good idea!

I should add that it was disappointing that the wifi information provided in the Conference Daily was both inadequate and wrong ! Wrong SSID, wrong username, only the password was right. In a building all on its own, what’s the point of all that complicated logging in procedure .. An open system would have served the purpose admirably. !

  • Never succeeded in downloading the app. Not sure whether this speaks more about my lack of skill or user unfriendliness. I need very precise and simple instructions.

I have a number of comments that I hope will be constructive but first the bad stuff. I have an iPhone 4s. Although the app allowed me to load my agenda – telling me each time that it had been successfully stored, it completely refused to let me view it. I tried three times, wasting a great deal of time and getting no service. Is this because I’m not sufficiently up to date to have an iPhone 5? If so, that’s ridiculous as mine is a standard contract phone that I can’t update for a while yet and many people have smart phones older than mine.

    Other points:
    1. All delegates have appointments outside the main agenda and programme e.g. meetings, dinners, lunches, interviews etc. It would a huge advantage to keep everything on the same agenda, so please add the facility to insert your own meetings.
    2. Once you click away from the day to the events, there is no indication of what day you’re on, which, while you’re compiling your agenda is frustrating. Further, you can’t check back to see where you were because returning to the day page doesn’t show where you’ve come from. It’s an important detail while you’re trying to compile an extensive agenda over five days.

  • It’s good that the party is continuing with the app and looking at how to make it better. I think it can make a big leap in both usefulness and popularity if it provided one integrated calendar, so you can get all the information about what is happening on a particular in one place, on the same screen, rather than being split between different documents (especially when some of them are still paper).

I’ve written more on this at http://www.markpack.org.uk/45743/how-to-make-lib-dem-conference-better-greener-and-cheaper/

Just read your guy Farrons comment for Christmas. Be more compassionate and welcoming. What a load of rubbish. Feel even less British than we do now by letting in even more people. Comments like this are why you don’t have any MPs left and your party has imploded. Thank goodness you aren’t in power anymore and probably never will be.
