LDV readers may have already seen Lib Dem candidate Linda Jack‘s advertising campaign video aimed at raising funds to unseat controversial Tory MP Nadine Dorries in Mid-Bedfordshire. Launched today, Linda’s ad will appear on leading political blogs and web sites to raise funds, as well as those searching for Nadine Dorries on Google.
(Also available to view here).
Here’s what Linda has to say about her campaign:
I am delighted with this great opportunity to raise funds for my campaign. The people of Mid Beds are fed up with a publicity seeking MP who cares more about appearing in the pages of the tabloid press and on reality TV shows than listening to the concerns of those who she is meant to represent in parliament.”
The video is the work of YouFundMe “a non-partisan online fundraising solution built with the needs of Britain’s fast-growing political campaigns in mind”. Find out all abut them here.

Nadine Dorries
Ed Balls
Harriet Harman
The three MPs I would most love to see get voted out next month.
Good luck to Linda Jack but did they really have to use the Lib Dem election song right at the end lol!
Shouldn’t Linda Jack be in Cambridge?
Steve; regarding Ed Balls, be extremely careful what you wish for. Much as I would love to see Jim Monaghan win, it ain’t going to happen there. Head over to vote-2007, take a look at the entries by “Wakey Tory Boy” (the Conservative PPC) and “Armchair Critic” (his agent), and see for yourself. IF (and that’s a pretty big if) Calvert wins, you’d be *pleading* for Balls to come back and replace him within weeks. That bad. Really.
Agreed with you re Dorries, though I’d most want to see Woolas, Grayling and/or Philip Davies fall alongside her.
Say what you may about Dorries (and I, for one, often do) she has a plebby background is made what she is rather than received an inheritance or been handed an internally selected position in the party apparatus.
Good luck to Linda, and great video!
@Sesenco, well as she says she lives in Mid-Bedfordshire that seems an appropriate place to stand. She wasn’t on the Cambridge shortlist (I don’t know whether she applied, though I suspect every Lib Dem in the Eastern region did!). What I can say is that we had a strong shortlist of three women and three men, of which in my opinion three people would make superb MPs. And yes, Julian Huppert is one of those people 🙂
Linda will need a big swing, but the very best of luck to her – the improvement over Nadine Dorries would be incalculable if she won.
Best to avoid negative I think, even when the opponent is as objectionable as Nadine Dorries.
Truly I hope Linda wins this seat, but because she’s a liberal and outstanding candidate, not because of who she’s facing.
On another note, can this video production company make anything not themed around genitals?
I didn’t make myself clear. I did not mean that Linda Jack should be the candidate in Cambridge, she should be working to support Juilian Huppert in Cambridge while standing as a paper candidate in Mid-Bedfordshire. She should not be wasting effort taking a pop at Nadine Dorries while Lib Dems who actually can win are desperately short of help.
Ah, understood. But are we that shorthanded in Cambridge?
In any case a bunch of enthusiastic student Lib Dems will be arriving this weekend and we will do as much campaigning (or probably more) than exams allow 🙂
I really dont like this negative campaign, especially the bit about ‘suicide’. That’s tasteless.
Alec, um
APart, of course, from being given a safe Tory seat at the request of Tory head office that is.
Sesenco, if we over target and abandon every other seat in existence, we’ll never grow as a party. Dorries is a very divisive MP, and someone has to make a stand against her, if we don’t, Labour will.
I’ve been told I should be spending more time campaigning in a nearby “target” seat; I’ve done some time there, but my reading of the runes says we’ve already got most of them, hence I’m working my development seat instead, we’ve a slim chance of taking it, and it’s worth a punt.
So, while I’m sure Linda will help out in Cambridge, it is one of our safer seats, about time we spread out and did some more work in the general area.
John, I agree, it was tasteless. When Dorries said it, it’s a direct quote. I’m not keen on a negative campaign, except…
It’s against Nadine Dorries. Negative campaigning is what she does. Those who sow the seed…
