From a quick late night glance at the Birthday Honours I have found just two Liberal Democrats from searching political service and local government.
Mike Cox, Party Treasurer and Bournemouth Councillor gets a CBE for public and political service. From other parties, Penny Mordaunt becomes a dame and I was really pleased to see Glasgow Labour MSP Pam Duncan-Glancy get an MBE.
Council Leader Stephen Giles-Medhurst from Three Rivers gets an OBE.
There may well be Lib Dems in there who are being honoured for other things. Do let us know.
And thanks to Moyra Forrest for letting us know that the brilliant Bridget Stevens, who I first worked with on the 2001 election has a very well deserved MBE for her work in developing and providing audio description:
Huge congratulations to Bridget Stevens MBE – “Pioneer, Audio Description, Edinburgh. For services to the arts” . An unsung heroine of the Liberal Democrats, Bridget is a candidate assessor and returning officer. She was Chair of her local Community Council. She was honoured also as a Deputy Lieutenant.
I’m thrilled for her.
My friend Lin told me that Melvyn Roffe, formerly of Edinburgh but now in Cornwall, a former chair of the Scottish Liberal Club has been awarded an MBE. Melvyn is a former principal of George Watson’s School in Edinburgh and has been recognised for services to education.
Many congratulations to Mike, Stephen, Bridget and Melvyn.
The list is here.

Moyra, that is absolutely brilliant news about Bridget! I am so delighted for her. Her work on audio description over so many years has been so brilliant.
As you will know, I first worked with her on the 2001 campaign and have always admired her hard work for the party always conducted with the brilliant good humour.
Stephen Giles-Medhurst, whom I have not seen for eons was around when I was a young Liberal. He has flown the flag for many many years. I’m not a fan of honours, but he surely deserves the recognotopm.
