Liberal Youth are making a difference – can you help this weekend?

Liberal Youth are making a difference up and down the country this month to get more Liberal Democrats elected.  Just as in Eastleigh, we’re showing the potential for Liberal Youth to be an election winning organisation as well an internal policy pressure group.

We’ve already had national action weekends in Sheffield and Cambridge, as well as national phone banking events with our shiny new connect account.

But we’re only just getting started.

This weekend we’re urging Liberal Youth members with no elections in their region to head to key target areas.  We’re holding action weekends in Somerset and Northumberland this weekend.  We understand money is a huge constraint to young members campaigning, so we can provide reasonable pre-agreed travel expenses, £10 a day for food, as well as accommodation.

If you’re a young member of the party (this is a good place to point out, all Lib Dems are young at heart!) and have a free weekend coming up, please sign up here.  You could make all the difference.

Young members are standing as candidates, knocking on doors, delivering leaflets and making calls to make sure we keep the party winning.

Liberal Youth want to celebrate their effort, and show how small, simple actions can make a huge difference.  That is why we have continued our Today I Made A Difference blog.  Here you can see what Liberal Youth members are doing to make a difference whether by phone banking or going out on the doorsteps.

So if you’re a young member, sign up to our action weekend, get a Liberal Youth connect account to win prizes and tell us how you’ve made a difference this month.

Yet this isn’t the full story of what Liberal Youth have been up to.

Often when speaking to party members a regular pattern occurs, half telling Liberal Youth to focus on winning elections, and the half telling Liberal Youth to focus on being an internal policy pressure group.  That’s why along with our election efforts, I can happily announce as a direct result of a Liberal Youth petition, Nick Clegg will be holding a webinar with members on immigration.

Liberal Youth are making a difference on the doorstep, and within the party.

Nick Clegg at Spring Conference said:

When I saw the huge numbers of young people pile through the doors of our HQ in Eastleigh, I could see that the future of our party is bright.

He could not be more right!
