Barwell Councillor Mathew Hulbert has not always been the biggest fan of the coalition, it’s fair to say. However, he was incredibly fair about it in a recent debate for young people in Leicestershire. You can see his one minute pitch here:

Well said Mathew Hulbert.
Why on earth could Clegg not have uttered these powerful Preamble words as part of his leaders debate intro?
Candidates ignoring the power and subtlety of the words of the Preamble are missing a vital weapon in the Lib Dem armoury.

Probably because it would have reminded a lot of people about what they thought they were voting for last time and what they ended up with following the love in of the rose garden

But NC thinks the vast majority of voters supporting Liberal Democrats in 2010 did so because, as he told The Economist this week, —
“…. that was a significant chunk of support that basically wanted to be associated with any party that didn’t have the remotest sniff of power. There just is a constituency out there that wants to be entirely bereft of any responsibility. So they’re clearly also very pissed off. …..”
Mathew Hulbert is obviously made of sterner and more reliable stuff than NC. Well done Mathew!

Far too little; far too late…..
If only Clegg, Alexander or Laws had uttered the word “reluctantly”, in the last 5 years, things could have been so different….
