Here’s a clip of Councillor Rabina Khan on BBC’s Newsnight discussing the steps we need to take to tackle vaccine disinformation. You can see Rabina and her husband going into their community, in a socially distanced way, to support local residents – addressing their concerns directly.

Congratulations on doing this.
It is terrible that the communities that have been hardest hit by COVID-19 are also the communities where misinformation and disinformation about the vaccines is most widespread.
It is abhorrent how ethnic communities have been targeted by anti-vax trolls online.
I have seen some truly shocking claims made by antivaxers towards ethnic minorities targeting their religious or cultural beliefs.
I am really struggling to understand the logic and purpose of some of these anti-vaxers conspiracists and what they have to gain?
Could it be a case of the more people they put off from taking the vaccine, the quicker they might get it for themselves? or something more sinister as a horrid case of racism and wanting to cause harm.
The Government needs to do much more to reach out to the BAME community and get as many faith leaders and high profile people from these communities to dispel these myths and encourage take up in the vaccination program.
I am sure the Government can invest in some advertisement and social media targeted advertisement to dispel these dangerous myths.
We owe it to all our communities.
I am pleased that my partner and I are both due to get our vaccines a week on Thursday and cannot come round soon enough for us
