The Saturday Open Thread (6 Jun ’09): what’s on your mind?

We don’t do an LDV Daily View 2 x 2 round-up on Saturdays, so instead here’s an open thread. What stories have caught your eye? What issues are on your mind? What did you think of the Lib Dems’ local elections performance? How do you think we’ll do in tomorrow’s Euro elections? What suggestions do you have for the new Lib Dem Voice poll? Discuss away in the comments below…

Coming later today: the LDV verdict on the 4th June local election results; plus this week’s Golden Dozen.

  • I think the Tories are at serious risk of overstretch, just like Labour were in 1997. They now hold areas such as Derbyshire & Staffordshire which are not by any stretch of the imagination naturally right-wing, nor is there any realistic prospect of their becoming so.

I envisage that they will not hold onto these gains, especially if Cameron’s government proves unpopular.

This is of course an opportunity for the LDs & others to gain at their expense if Labour don’t revive soon.

  • I’m wondering what happened to comment notifications from Lib Dem Voice…
