Top of the Blogs: The Golden Dozen #170

Welcome to the Golden Dozen, and our 170th weekly round-up from the Lib Dem blogosphere … Featuring the seven most popular stories beyond Lib Dem Voice according to click-throughs from the Aggregator (16th – 22nd May, 2010), together with a hand-picked quintet, normally courtesy of LibDig, you might otherwise have missed.

Don’t forget: you can now sign up to receive the Golden Dozen direct to your email inbox – just click here – ensuring you never miss out on the best of Lib Dem blogging.

As ever, let’s start with the most popular post, and work our way down:

1. When even Evan Harris and Tony Greaves desert you……… on Linda Jack’s Lindyloo’s Muze.
Linda on being a voice in the wilderness.

2. Is Charles Kennedy organising a Liberal Democrat putsch? on James Graham’s Quaequam Blog!
If so, he’s going entirely the wrong way about it, says James.

3. Losing the argument? on Nich Starling’s Norfolk Blogger.
Linda is not alone, as Nich attends a party meeting that leaves him wondering ‘why some people ever joined the Liberal Democrats.’

4. I’m staying put, for now. on Nich Starling’s Norfolk Blogger.
Nich puts the party on notice: ‘I cannot promise I will remain a Lib Dem after May 2011.’

5. The new Liberal Democrats’ target seat list on Paul Walter’s Liberal Burblings.
The 573 most winnable seats. We’re rooting for you, Glasgow North East.

6. Blimey, this is still weird on Paul Walter’s Liberal Burblings.
Note Clegg sits to Cameron’s left.

7. Lib Dems are now first or second placed in nearly half of seats on Mark Thompson’s Mark Reckons.
Lib Dems now in first or second place in 299 seats – almost half the country.

And now to the five blog-posts that come highly recommended, regardless of the number of Aggregator click-throughs they attracted. These are chosen using the LibDig bookmarking website for party members, the site where you can highlight blog-posts you want to share with your fellow Lib Dems. Remember, though, you’re still more than welcome to nominate for the Golden Dozen a Lib Dem blog article published in the past seven days – your own, or someone else’s – using the steam-powered method of e-mail … all you have to do is drop a line to [email protected].

8. Birmingham 1, Ross Skye & Lochaber 0 by Andy Mayer on Liberal Vision.
“Andy Mayer asks whether Charles Kennedy ever supported a “realignment of the left” while he was leader. Interesting stuff, including a lot I didn’t know about.” (Submitted by Niklas Smith via LibDig).

9. Thoughts From the Lib Dem Conference on Craig Murray’s blog.
‘There was a general view that we are heading for a period of unpopularity, but that we are doing the right thing in constructing a government.’

10. Is this a coalition or a wing by dazmando on the Bracknell Blog.
“Just like a plane wing a coalition needs flexibility to move under pressure otherwise it will snap under the pressure.” (Submitted by dazmando via LibDig).

11. Child detention at Dungavel finishes under new Lib Dem – Conservative coalition government
on Andrew Reeves’ Running Blog.
‘So, the Liberal Democrat – Conservative coalition government has stuck to it’s word and ended child detention at Dungavel.’ (Submitted by andrew.reeves via LibDig).

12. A new kind of politics
on John Leech MP’s blog.
‘Whatever misgivings I, and others, may have about a coalition with the Tories, we must ensure that it works for the benefit of the country. Already we have secured commitments for a number of progressive policies.’

And that’s it for another week. Happy blogging ‘n’ reading ‘n’ governing.
