Top of the Blogs: The Golden Dozen #90

We’re still playing catch-up here at LDV, so apologies for belatedness…

Welcome to the 90th of our weekly round-ups from the Lib Dem blogosphere, featuring the seven most popular stories according to click-throughs from the Aggregator (2nd-8th November), together with a hand-picked quintet, mostly courtesy of LibDig, you might otherwise have missed.

How about starting with the most popular blog-posting, and we work our way down? Here goes…

1. Finally, I make a decision on party president on Anders Hanson’s blog.
Because every single vote counted.

2. What does Glenrothes mean for the Lib Dems? on Lib Dem Voice.
That the electoral climate just got a lot more unpredictable … and tougher.

3. Lembit’s great gamble on Alix Mortimer’s The People’s Republic of Morimter blog.
Virtually baring his soul.

4. The Opik Obama Connection…………….. on Linda Jack’s Lindyloo’s Muze blog.
“Both running for President, both with unusual names beginning with O, and elected, both will be the first Presidents of their respective country/party with a surname beginning with O……..” Not to stretch a point, mind.

5. Day 2873: Nick Clegg: I’ll Never Satisfy Polly Toynbee and Jackie Ashley… on Millennium Dome, Elephant’s Very Fluffy Diary blog.
“What we thought afterwards was how much more CONFIDENT Mr Clog has gotten in his role as leader, clearly feeling able to knock back questions rather than trying to circumnavigate very issue by thinking aloud”.

6. Glenrothes: would could have been done differently? on ‘CostiganQuist’s’ Himmelgarten Cafe blog.
“Don’t just complain that Glenrothes wasn’t another Brent East – suggest what you think we should be doing differently and better, and why it would convince thousands more people to vote Lib Dem.”

7. Do Liberals annoy you ?
on Barrie Wood’s Progressive Politics blog.
If the answer’s yes, you’ll find a tolerant home in the Liberal Democrats.

And now to the five blog-posts that come highly recommended regardless of the number of Aggregator click-throughs they attracted. And as is now traditional we’re using the LibDig widget to select some of the posts from the seven days in question which you’ve most ‘dug’. But, remember, if you want to highlight a Lib Dem blog article published in the past seven days – your own, or someone else’s – using the steam-powered method of e-mail all you have to do is drop me a line at [email protected] (providing the web-link and author, and any tagline comment you care to have published).

8. Some cynical nihilism, or, a revolution in the People’s Republic on Alix Mortimer’s The People’s Republic of Mortimer blog.
Alix. Is. Angry.

9. This blog is vetoed
on David Rundle de moribus liberalibus blog.
nil desperandum, David.

10. Labour plan to infect nation with herpes continues apace
on Costigan Quist’s Himmelgarten Café blog.
A simplex solution to crime reduction.

11. Exclusive (for now): Bloggers Interview with Nick Clegg Part I: Stimulate Growth by Cutting Taxes on Charlotte Gore’s Reluctantly Lib Dem blog.
Learning not to giggle at our leader. Click for parts 2 and 3.

12. Repent! For the end of the state is nigh! on Jock Coats’ blog.
Not sure what a geo-mutualist believes? Then read on.

That’s it for this week. In a break with recent tradition, expect the next Golden Dozen in the coming week. And happy blogging.
