In November, the Welsh European Election Campaign is holding a fundraising breakfast at the National Liberal Club (Whitehall Place, London) to see the US Presidential election results come in. Starting at 8am and going on until about 11am, individual tickets cost £25 (or five tickets for £100). More details or tickets from Roger Robers on 01492 876 690.

On which date?
er, I’m guessing the 5th
Do the times work? If I remember correctly, the US TV networks declare results the moment voting closes in any states, regardless of the fact that other, more western states may still be voting. If you’re starting at 8am, that’s 3am ET, and surely it’ll all be over.
Are the Welsh Liberal Democrats in a different time zone to the rest of the world? (on second thoughts, don’t answer that)
Are the results to be delivered by telegram to the National Liberal Club on Whitehall Place?
I’m now so fascinated to “see the US Presidential election results come in. Starting at 8am”, that I’m almost tempted to buy a ticket out of perversity.
(And before anyone makes the obvious joke…no, it wouldn’t be the first time I bought a ticket to something for such reasons….)
So Mark, where you so stunned by this that you organised your own event 😉

Thanks for Presidential Breakfast Comments ! It was to have been a get-together as results were finanlised (after all night TV watching !) Most folk seem to think that the “All night” vigil will be sufficient BUT if you still feel like a fund-raising breakfast please get in touch with me – [email protected] by Monday afternoon. I might be eating a lonely breakfast !! On the other hand…..
A nice idea at the same time an effort to socializing people. But two things I would like to point out in this unique endeavor.
The time difference between US and Europe varies considerably and also between different American time zone. So results will be start coming in long before 8am.
You have also not mentioned the date. Thanks
