Agenda for Spring Conference

Spring Conference will be in Harrogate from 21st to 23rd March.

You can now see the agenda here. Policy motions cover:

  • Science, Innovation and Technology
  • Free to be Who You Are
  • The UK’s Response to Trump
  • Animal Welfare in the Food System
  • Ending the Crisis: A Fair Deal for Children with SEND

Plus a Constitutional Amendment on Implementing the Lessons of the General Election Review.

That means it’s time to start thinking about amendments to motions – the deadline is 10th March.

There is still time to register for conference, either in person on online. You can register here.

I have recently joined some groups trying to save the NHS and some of the stories I have heard and information about what has apparently been happening for over 40yrs is truly shocking and heartbreaking. The NHS was one of our biggest selling points in the general election and although I’ve seen some great stories from Sir Ed and our MPS I feel that we should use the spring conference to step up our efforts to support everyone involved in trying to save the NHS I would recommend everyone to watch a film on utube called The great nhs heist it’s certainly opened my eyes to the mismanagement of the NHS by successive governments over the last 40yrs starting with the great British sell off by thatcher

  • Might be worth comparing the policy motions with what the British electorate consider the most pressing issues facing the country. According to YouGov (https://yougov.co.uk/topics/society/trackers/the-most-important-issues-facing-the-country), it’s currently the Economy (55% named as one of the most important issues), Immigration (45%) and Health (39%). Everything else is miles behind, with the next issues being Crime (21%), , Housing (20%), the Environment (20%), and then Defence and Security next – on just 14%.

So it seems the entire policy motion agenda is taken up with issues that the public basically don’t care about (although I suspect our response to Trump will rise up the public agenda in the coming months).

And we wonder why the LibDems are in 4th place in terms of vote share….
