BBC News has the story. ‘I’m not paranoid, but the world is out to get me’….
Somewhat more seriously, Liberal Review have been digging around the Tory party’s finances, this follows on from a series of stories over the weekend about a shadowy operation called Constituency Campaign Services which may, or may not, be part of the Conservative party.
We also learn today that four major Tory party donors have been questioned as part of the cash for peerages investigation. How does all this sit with Mr Cameron’s call to clean up politics?
Finally, Cameron’s claim to be a party of the “centre”-right is not born out by a poll of his own party’s members, which reveals that right-wingers are the most popular members of his shadow cabinet. They also slam the A-list, call for tax cuts, and are disappointed with the progress the party is making.
UPDATE: When I said “finally”, I didn’t know that the Mirror has been digging around the finances of the Tory party chair

Maude’s being involved with a company which is involved with companies, one of which is a porn company is hardly a story – I suspect that you could quickly look at some of our millionaire MPs and find they have assets and interests in things which opponents could use as a stick against them.
This whole story about the Constituency Campaign Services on the other hand is fascinating. Presumably they’ll have checked it over with lawyers, but we should have a really good look. Best case their lawyers messed up, next best is that it turns into a PR disaster for them (link it to their funders in Bermuda?), but at the worst it might be a lesson to us of a creative way of assigning funds.
