Conservative councillor news

Harrow: “Eileen Kinnear has been expelled by the Tories for ‘a number of serious group breaches’ … Councillor Kinnear, who represents Harrow on the Hill ward, is the second Conservative to face the boot in the past six months” (Harrow Observer. And do check out the picture.)

South Dorset: “Top Tory from Crossways guilty of theft and forgery … The prosecution claims the total amount stolen is around £58,000 but the defence believes the figure to be in the region of £30,000.” (Dorset Echo)

Poole: “Two Conservative councillors, who were previously suspended, have been expelled from the ruling party group. Borough of Poole’s Conservative Group said Carole Deas and David Gillard had been expelled because they regularly voted against their own party.” (BBC)

Bournemouth: “A Bournemouth councillor has been expelled from the ruling Conservative party group over a late payment of about £4,100 he owed the council.” (BBC) (What is it about this part of the world?)

Eileen Kinnear – she is actually a very good councillor for the constituency she serves. She is active, available and tuned into the needs of a very special place. If she has fallen out with her group – well that happens. And if she chooses spectacles that seem on the big side – so what. Oh, by the way, nice name Rubie…

“She is active, available and tuned into the needs of a very special place.”

Is this some sort of euphemism?
