Danny Alexander’s stroll on the Grassy Knoll and other great #dannyswalks

Twitter is evil. We all knew that, right?

And it can be very funny.

And even evilly funny.

Out of the most innocent and an assuming of gestures, it can make a Big Internet Thing.

And so it was when all that Danny Alexander did was change his cover photo. He picked an image of him walking alongside Loch Morlich, near Aviemore in the heart of his Highland constituency.  In the shadow of Cairngorm mountain itself, he strolled, casually dressed.

And then Hannah Thompson, who you may remember is the woman whose brilliant campaign against revenge porn is about to change the law to make it an offence, casually mused:

Well, that just seemed to set the creatives on the internet into a photoshopping frenzy. All of a sudden, under the hashtag #dannyswalks, photos appeared of Danny on the moon, on the grassy knoll in Dallas, at Abbey Road, walking in front of the TARDIS and in just about every major film every made. In one, he’s strolling along as a massive explosion happens behind him. In another, he meets the Muppets. Some of them are absolutely genius.

Buzzfeed even put some of them together.

And what does Danny reckon to it all?

This is what he tweeted a few minutes ago:

If I were him, I’d pick a few favourites, put them on mugs and auction them off for local charities in his constituency.

And just seeing as we know Danny has a sense of humour, here’s a reminder of the song that should have been the Christmas No 1 in 2011. The last time I posted it on here, I had outraged commenters accuse me of bullying Danny. Seriously, I did actually hold back from posting it for a whole 3 months after it came out because I thought it was a bit cruel and then I saw him laugh his head off at it.

Have a look through the hashtag and let us know your favourites. We might even include it in the next Liberal Democrat Voice Members’ Survey…

Of course, as a highlander, I don’t think there’s any better photo than the original. Although it doesn’t strictly speaking need Danny in it. Loch Morlich is great and you seriously should all visit it.

Update: General Boles is even doing requests now. I asked for one with a dalek and look..

  • The first ever one was a request: Danny walking in Mordor for me, because Danny CAN casually walk into Mordor which Sean Bean is too wussy to do.

  • Jennie, that just goes to show that Highlanders are much less wussy than Yorkshirefolk.

  • Feed him to the pandas.

Pandas feasting on the Green Shoots of recovery?

Has Danny A in that pic just finished walking on water?

  • Gadsden, sweetie, you made a typo: you put “wussy” when you meant “sensible”
