Every single Lib Dem vote is a vote for change

There are only EVER two stories in an election: CHANGE or MORE OF THE SAME.

The BIG difference that Nick Clegg’s acknowledged win in the Leader’s Debate has made is that many people now realise that while the Labservatives are more of the same old sleaze and spin, EVERY vote for a Liberal Democrat is a VOTE FOR CHANGE.

I’ll say that again:

This may just be the ONE election under our corrupt and broken electoral system where EVERY VOTE COUNTS.

Here’s why:

If you vote for Liberal Democrats you GET Liberal Democrats –

These polls show that if you’re thinking of voting Liberal Democrat, YOU ARE NOT ALONE.

There are seats up and down Great Britain where people WANT to vote for the Liberal Democrats and the only reason they DON’T vote for the Liberal Democrats is that they don’t believe we can win.

But if they voted Liberal Democrat then we WOULD win.

If you vote for Liberal Democrats you GET Liberal Democrat policies –

Don’t let anyone tell you that a vote for the Liberal Democrats won’t make any difference.

We already control over twelve billion pounds of local government spending, that’s more than a fifth of the country. We have shared in the governments of Wales and Scotland.

If you want to know why Scottish people have free care for the elderly – that was because of Liberal Democrats; if you want to know why Scottish students don’t have titanic student loans – that was because of Liberal Democrats

If you vote for Liberal Democrats you GET a WHOLE NEW POLITICS –

Only the Liberal Democrats are pledged to tear down the whole rotten system and put in a new and better one where you are in control, one with fewer MPs, fair votes, a Parliament that can hold the government to account, an elected upper house, the right to sack your MP, stronger and more accountable local government…

Every vote that is cast for us will be counted and people will know how many votes we get. If the Liberal Democrats get more votes than one of the other parties, or even than both the other Parties, but still come out with fewer seats, then there will be no way that they can resist reform any longer. Any Party that tried to rule like that would have no authority, they would be a laughing stock, a bad joke.

We know that both the old Parties have blocked reform and fudged reform and tried to wriggle out of reform for years and years and years. Labour promised us reform thirteen years ago and now they’re making the same promise again, only for less reform and thirteen years late.

If they meant it they’d have done it by now.

But their chums in the Conservatives have been blocking reform for even longer. When Nick Clegg put forward reforms to let you sack your MP, they were nowhere to be seen. When it came to reforming the House of Lords, they voted against.

So when the old Labservative Parties say “the Lib Dems won’t win because of the electoral system” then they are admitting that they cannot win by fair means.

That’s why we need EVERY VOTE we can get. Because EVERY VOTE for the LIBERAL DEMOCRATS is a VOTE FOR CHANGE!

People everywhere were disgusted by the expenses scandal, but the media never showed them all the things that the Liberal Democrats were trying to do to fix our broken politics, all the votes where we tried to put forward reform only to have the Labservatives use their huge majority to block it; all the times when our resistance to the Labservatives self-interest went unnoticed; even those times – like stopping Conservative backbencher David Maclean’s Bill, which tried to get the House of Commons expenses exempted from Freedom of Information – when we didn’t get credit even when we won.

The leaders’ debate made a difference because finally people could see that there was one leader who WANTED change AND who was up to the job.

Remember, every vote for a Liberal Democrat is a vote that strengthens Nick Clegg’s hand after the election.

  • Can somebody write an article rebutting the tories’ ridiculous assertion that a hung parliament would create economic meltdown?

Something along the lines of: “Of course markets don’t like uncertainty and they always get a bit jittery around election time. A hung parliament might extend that uncertainty for a short time – a few days – a week – but it won’t affect the long term stability of the markets. People shouldn’t be scared by the tories and the bankers that got us into this mess in the first place.”

Also, can we afford some big posters of Nick and Vince? The two most popular politicians in the country!!!!

I hope the Liberal Democrats do well and if they finish first but come third in terms of seats they will have done more to break an out of date system than they could imagine. On that point their allies in the European Parliament include the Irish Party Fianna Fail who apart from being one of the most corrupt parties in the world tried to abolish PR and replace it with first past the post.
