Harriet Harman’s campaign for Labour Deputy Leader doesn’t really seem to be at the cutting edge of technology: sending out an email to several hundred councillors and sticking all their addresses in the to/cc fields is just asking for an unhappy recipient to hit “reply all” … and indeed they did.
(It’s also highly questionable data protection practice to expose people’s personal data – their email addresses – to all and sundry in this way. Rather ironic for a leading Labour figure to be so slapdash with personal data when Labour is so keen on getting the government to gather up even more data about ourselves in future. Perhaps their next manifesto should promise, “Big Brother wants your data, but it’s ok – we won’t let Harriet near it”?).

Thats awesome!
God forbid she becomes deputy PM, images of Brown being away and her sending an email to Angela Merkel slagging off Nicholas Sarkozy and accidently copying him in.
Ah, pure genius.
The follow-up emails are even more amusing. Email is an ever-present disaster waiting to happen. (And let none of us ever forget it – Mike Storey won’t).
most of these DL e-campaigns are being staffed by students …
Oh, and by the way was it email or printed memo that exposed the Manchester Withington members campaigning for John Leech’s selection over Yasmin Zalzala because as a black, asian, muslim candidate she could never win OWTTE?
It was not the email that exposed the Liberal Democrats wanting to replace me with a white man.
I was visited by the chair of the constituency in my home and told to move on to leave the way clear for a white man with a large majority on the council estates, as my political career is finished in Manchester Withington as Labour will always use the race card to defeat me.
This was followed by a campaign of lies, deceit, complacency and a turning a blind eye on the ground that ‘may be they have a point as electoral success is the key.
