A YouGov poll earlier this week asked people which, if any, of the parties had contacted them in the previous week (numbers in brackets from similar survey in mid-April):
Conservatives: 39% (31%)
Labour: 34% (25%)
Lib Dem: 29% (19%)
(Overall contact rates are also up on February, though the Brunel survey then wasn’t conducted in quite the same way.)
Amongst those contacted by each party, leafleting dominates with email is ahead of the phone:
Conservatives: 93% leafleted, 13% door stepped, 10% emailed, 3% phoned
Labour: 94% leafleted, 12% door stepped, 5% emailed, 5% phoned
Lib Dem: 94% leafleted, 13% door stepped, 8% emailed, 3% phoned

I got my sister who lives in Hertfordshire to get interested. he went to the website, donated, and offered her time in distributing leaflets.
On the phone today she tells me
NO ONE HAS CONTACTED HER
She has received leaflets from Conservatives, Labour and UKIP and NOTHING from libdems.
Surely, with only 29percent coverage the LibDems cannot afford to ignore any potential helper or voter however blue the seat
Shame to hear that Brian. I’ve no idea what happened in your sister’s case, though I do know that there are plenty of ways a message may fail to get through (either to the party or back to the person), such as an email being wrongly blocked as spam and across the whole country it’s inevitable that a few of those happen every week however hard people work to avoid it. May therefore be worth pointing your sister at http://www.libdems.org.uk/in_your_area.aspx so that she can get in touch directly with the local party?
Mark – as you know I am now out in Potters Bar – and very disappointed that there is no Lib Dem on the local council ballot paper. Doubly disappointing because if Mike and I had known they were short of candidates one of us would have easily stepped up to the mark. The push for Hertsmere libdems seems to have been, understandably, Bushey lead – but that doesnt excuse no contact with the outer reaches.
Needless to say it will probably mean my “retirement” is a lot shorter than originally planned!
Susan: there’s a big silver lining in there for the party then!
I took part in that YouGov poll. It was odd being asked whether I had been contacted by any Liberal Democrats in the last week.
