Let’s get Welsh Lib Dems elected!

On Thursday, 7 May, Wales will go to the polls to vote for a new government under a new closed-list voting system.

Every seat is up for grabs, and the Liberal Democrats will be contesting all of them.

In my local area, Swansea and Gower, Councillor Sam Bennett will be advancing the Liberal Democrat cause, hoping to provide a measured, liberal voice in the Senedd.

His dedication to fighting for Swansea and Gower communities, social justice and equality is a testament to his politics and to the liberal flame that continues to burn in Wales.

I’ll be joining his campaign team to leaflet around Sketty today, but there will be more opportunities to join and campaign to get Sam elected.

Now, more than ever, the fight to stop the far-right is vital. By electing as many Liberal Democrats to the Senedd as we can, we will be stopping the barbarians at the gate and protecting our democracy.

Sam is not the only Welsh Lib Dem to stand on 7 May, of course. Across all 16 new constituencies, Liberal Democrats will be putting forward candidates who seek only one thing: the opportunity to defend Welsh democracy and put the needs of the Welsh people back at the heart of government, rather than populism, nationalism, or kowtowing to Westminster.

If you’re unable to join in leafleting and door-knocking, that’s absolutely fine. There are more ways to support the Welsh Liberal Democrat cause!

In the early hours of this morning, my grandfather was taken to hospital with a suspected heart attack, so unfortunately, I’ve been unable to join Sam’s team with campaigning.
