Liberal Democrats up 3% in latest poll

The latest Communicate Research poll has Conservatives 35%, Labour 31% and Liberal Democrats 20%.

The Lib Dem score is up three points, though the party’s rating in the last six Communicate Research polls has bounced around all over the place: 14, 17, 14, 21, 17 and now 20. So make of that what you will.

  • So only another 100 percentage point increase required and your surge will bring you level pegging with the Tories !

It’s a shame, but isn’t there something odd about the way Communicate carry out their polls? Which is why it always annoys me when I see a newspaper reporting us on 14-16% because of them . . .

Even Lib Dems don’t trust this polling organisation (see, for example,PoliticalBetting. Have you done a u-urn whilst commuting from N4 to Cowardly Street?

  • Aaah, what a clever pun. Only slightly undermined by you not having read the posting, getting your punctuation wrong, getting your spelling wrong and getting my commute wrong.

Otherwise full marks for the impression you leave of the Conservative Party.

  • CR is not a credible polling company. They are currently undergoing changes to the way they collect data, which is one of the reasons why all party figures have been seen to bounce all over the place.

I would not go around quoting CR as a credible source for LibDem surges anytime soon.

Well, it’s only a “surge” if we’re to believe that Communicate’s earlier polling, having us in the mid-teens, is correct. Otherwise 20% is just within the margin of error of lots of other polls by other companies.

  • CR have changed their methodology and starting with this poll they weight by past vote.

so its only a two horse race then…hahahaha
