If I was neutral I would make a point of voting against politicians (or rather the increasing number of politicians) who use their position to talk about sport.
Depends on whether they are doing it from a position of knowledge or to look hip and with it.
Eg John Major (on Cricket), Seb Coe, David Hinchcliffe (ex Wakefield MP and professional Rugby league player.
Tony “I remember watching Jackie Milburn”* Blair however is another matter 🙂 It would have been amusing at the Ashes reception for a journalist to have asked Blair when he developed his interest in cricket and if he could explain – in reasonable detail – the operation of the LBW rule 🙂
My comment was more a reflection of the fact that virtually everyone on FiveLive for the last 2 days has been offering a comment on the Giles/Panesar debate
*Not actually true AIUI but still widely believed
