Congratulations to the three selected candidates in Newcastle, promising new Lib Dem territory thanks to recent great local election results:
- Newcastle Central – Gareth Kane
- Newcastle East – Stephen Psallidas
- Newcastle North – Ron Beadle
These selections, plus Winchester and Woking appear in the updated PPC list.
Now a question – I haven’t yet posted up last week’s PPC ads, and no-one has complained. Is that information useful, or should LDV carry only news of seats that have selected?

I would suggest publicising the adverts too, although most approved candidate get Lib Dem News this is another good outlet for ensuring people see the adverts.

I think it helps to give people – certainly me – a feeling that things are on the move. We also know which seats will shortly be making interesting announcements.
I would prefer them to stay just in the Lib Dem News, you may find circulation going down as PPC Ads are just one of the reasons people buy the paper. I presume that profits go straight to the party so why cut off potential funding.
You know what skinflints some Lib Dems can be!
Dave
Think the more publicity the better – most ppcs get lib dem news but a reminder and a quick and easy place to see when appications need to be submitted etc is quite helpfull. I tend to recycle my lib dem news fairly quickly after reading it – I’m sure our mps of the future will treasure their copies but the odd one may be as scatterbrained as me!
LDN profit? Does not compute…
Put them here, and provide an RSS feed of them…
LDN made a profit once, when there was a particularly talented and dynamic Business Manager. Wonder what happened to him…?
😉
Local parties have to advertise in LDN whether they get free advertising elsewhere or not, so I can’t see the harm in advertising them.
Of course, the more effective thing to promote is getting people (especially women, BME members and members of other under-represented groups) to get approved as candidates in the first place.
Actually, on second thoughts. PPC advertising should be a thing for the official party website not “an independent website for supporters of the Liberal Democrat party in the UK”.
So they should go on a page on the party website – with an RSS feed that allows them to list on here, or any other independent Lib Dem Blog.
Rob,
Keep publishing them. The more publicity a selection gets, the better… Besides, aren’t we trying to escape the accusations of running a secret society?
Astounded Greg Stone didn’t get reselected after all the work he has done to build the party up in Newcastle. An absolute travesty.
