New LDV members’ survey now live: coalition, Labour leadership, & Lib Dem election assessment

The new LDV members’ survey is now live. So if you are one of the 1,000+ registered members of the Liberal Democrat Voice forum – and any paid-up party member is welcome to join – then you now have the opportunity to make your views known. Questions we are asking your opinion on include:

– your views on the full Lib Dem / Conservative coalition agreement;
– how long you expect the coalition government to last;
– what you think of the Labour leadership contest; and
– your assessment of the Lib Dems’ general election performance.

It should take no longer than 5-10 minutes to fill in. All registered members of the Forum will today be e-mailed with a unique link to take you to the survey. It takes a few hours to email these out, so please bear with the system. If you haven’t received the email by the end of today, or if you are signing up to the Forum now, please drop Ryan Cullen a line at [email protected]

We’ll publish the results in a few days’ time. You can access the results from our previous LDV members surveys by clicking here.

  • I’m still waiting to receive my membership number ( though long time LibDem voter, joined 2 weeks ago. first time ever member of a political party) so can’t participate on the forum but:

    – your views on the full LibDem / Conservative coalition agreement;
    overall pleased many of the Libs policy made it in, albeit many watered down. Now the devil will be in the delivery, and how much of the blame for the unpopular decisions and credit for the successes we’ll get.

    – how long you expect the coalition government to last;
    difficult to judge, especially as a lot will depend on the Tories backbenchers sour grapes. Anything from a year to 4.. I’m not sure how things will play in the last year of the parliament if it’s still going on though, with elections looming..

    – what you think of the Labour leadership contest;
    looks like more of the same. Quite happy Diane Abbott is running though, might make the tedious thing a little bit more interesting.

    – your assessment of the Lib Dems’ general election performance.
    Disappointing in terms of both seats lost and the overall share of the votes.. the buzz amongst my friends (which most I don’t think were previous LibDems voters) led me to believe it’d be much better. But pleased that we finally were taken seriously and finally get a chance to put our money were our mouth is.

    Would anyone who has the knowledge be kind enough to tell me which Liberal Democrat MPs, apart from Charles Kennedy abstained in the vote on the coalition(50 – 0)?
