Nick Clegg has set himself up for a potential pounding with space hoppers by agreeing to appear on Channel 4’s The Last Leg programme to convince presenter Alex Brooker that it’s worth voting.
From the Independent:
This is Nick’s original video to the programme, deemed not good enough by the presenters who wanted him there in person:
#Isitok@TheLastLeg, @adamhillscomedy and @joshwiddicombe that @alex_brooker won’t vote? I think he should! https://t.co/6hhYnfCEjo

We think he did ok, but he could improve by making it more real for people. Voting has a direct impact on the amount of money you have, the public services you have available to you, for example whether young people get subsidised bus travel, or the sort of medical treatment your Mum gets. Politics is about making people’s lives better and it’s important that everyone’s voice is heard. It’s time young people started setting the agenda. Nick needs to talk about real, practical issues that voting can influence.
Anyway, we also think it’s pretty brave of him to accept the challenge and we’re looking forward to seeing him. Here’s how he accepted the challenge.
Challenge accepted. I’ll dodge the space hoppers and see you on the sofa then @alex_brooker @joshwiddicombe @adamhillscomedy @TheLastLeg

I liked it that the challenge was accepted in real-time (ie. whilst the show was live) and hence indicated that Nick was watching. However this left my household with a query: who actually sent the tweet? my other half (with the casting vote) thinks it was Miriam…
Put those words together carefully —
” Nick Clegg …. … On the Last Leg. ”
Nuff said ?
One thing I’ve thought about Clegg for a while is he needs more exposure to counter a lot of the rubbish people think about him as a thatcheritelite so full credit for getting on a popular programme that appeals to different demographic.
