The Independent View: politics, music and a new blog

Heaven is Whenever has been set up by myself (with help from Bella Gerens and Left Outside) as an escape for political bloggers where we want everyone – regardless of party or ideology – to write about the music they enjoy; favourite albums, overlooked artists, memorable gigs or cherished experiences.

We are in the midst of an election campaign which would try the patience of a saint. Though blogging is necessarily combative one of its joys is the space it creates to interact with opposing points of view.

This is a place not to write as esteemed political bloggers with our gripes and demands and agendas, but as music fans. We have only three ‘rules’:

  • You should be a political blogger (although you don’t have to blog exclusively about politics).
  • You should write about any aspect or genre of music.
  • Your writing should not be party-political.

If you’d like to contribute, make suggestions, or if you have any questions, send us an email and we’ll hook you up. Even if you don’t want to contribute yet you can follow us on twitter and see what we’re about.

For now, just leave out the politics and focus on the music.

The Independent View‘ is a slot on Lib Dem Voice which allows those from beyond the party to contribute posts we believe are of interest to LDV’s readers. Please email [email protected] if you are interested in contributing.
