Welcome to the 84th of our weekly round-ups from the Lib Dem blogosphere, featuring the seven most popular stories according to click-throughs from the Aggregator (20-27th September), together with a hand-picked quintet you might otherwise have missed.
How about starting with the most popular blog-posting, and we work our way down? Here goes:
1. Nick Clegg: In the family way on Helen Duffett’s Paint the Town Orange blog.
Our party leader subjects himself to a light blogger-grilling.
2. Lembit quits Lib Dem shadow cabinet to focus on three-way fight for presidency on Lib Dem Voice.
We hear the words ‘Lembit’, ‘three-way’ and ‘quits’ are capable of causing heart-tremors in Lib Dem HQ.
3. Face it: at this rate it won’t just be labour loosing seats on Alasdair Wood’s A Radical View blog.
First rule of being a political activist: only believe polls which show you doing well. Second rule: all polls show you doing well.
4. A Poll for Liberal Democrat Activists to Cheer… on Andrew Lewin’s Current Vision blog.
Neatly applying rules one and two.
5. I can’t believe I’m doing this, but… I’m going to endorse Lembit Opik on Martin Land’s New Model Army blog.
Endorsements of Lembit begin to flood in by the ones.
6. You wait ages for one opinion poll and then several come along at once on Anders Hanson’s blog.
And you wait ages for one blog posting in the Golden Dozen about opinion polls, and then…
7. Liberal Democrats gain Hampstead Town from the Conservatives on Lib Dem Voice.
Congrats to all involved, especially newly-elected Councillor Linda Chung.
And now to the five slots we reserve under the category ‘well worth reading even if they didn’t get the most clicks this week’. Remember, if you do want to highlight a Lib Dem blog article published in the past seven days – your own, or someone else’s – all you have to do is drop me a line at [email protected] (providing the web-link and author, and any tagline comment you care to have published).
8. Day 2823: “…and here is my husband who’s going to talk about not using his family as props”* on Millennium Dome, Elephant’s Very Fluffy Diary blog.
Deserves to head the list not least for being nominated twice, both by Bridget Fox (“If we did compulsory reading, which being good liberals we don’t, this would be on my list – funny, angry, and right”) and Alex Foster (“Mr Brown meets his fluffy nemesis”).
9. Private charity, voluntary co-operation or state welfare on Jock Coats’ Jock’s Place blog.
“Would people really not contribute voluntarily to the upkeep of others if you don’t have a government apparatus threatening them with the confiscation of their property and ultimately the loss of their freedom unless they pay their taxes?” (Nominated by Julian Harris.)
10. The Racist Narrative on a Liberal Democrat Organiser’s Decline of the Logos blog.
Racism, the housing crisis and the rise of the BNP and IWCA: the trouble is, “macroeconomic arguments have little relevance for the grannies of Clerkenwell”.
11. Liberal Revue – The Long-Awaited Review on Jennie Rigg’s The Yorksher Gob blog.
“One regrettable lowlight, three rather good highlights, and a whole bunch of mediocre-to-good.”
12. Is this ad the biggest waste of money ever? on Paul Walter’s Liberal Burblings blog.
John McCain’s presidential campaign shows how not to do it.
That’s it for this week. Happy blogging.

Somehow it always means more to get into the bottom lot than the top lot…
Cor! The end of a long dry spell on the Golden Dozen – thanks Julian!
