Top of the Blogs: The Golden Dozen #91

Welcome to the 91st of our weekly round-ups from the Lib Dem blogosphere, featuring the seven most popular stories according to click-throughs from the Aggregator (9th-15th November), together with a hand-picked quintet, mostly courtesy of LibDig, you might otherwise have missed.

How about starting with the most popular blog-posting, and we work our way down? Here goes…

1. Lib Dem President Elect sparks new poll! on Helen Duffett’s Paint the Town Orange blog.
All together now: Aahhhhh…

2. Somewhat unlikely!
on the ‘somewhat unlikely’ Peter Black AM’s blog.
On Waterstones and censorship.

3. Motivation on Huw Dawson’s Left Side of Liberal blog.
Sounds like it’s time for Liberal Drinks to hit Accrington.

4. Ros wins: it wos the candidate and message wot won it! on Duncan Borrowman’s blog.
“Ros sold the message of being the people’s president, bottom up, listening, consulting far better than the others – with true conviction.”

5. Party posts on Paul Walter’s Liberal Burblings blog.
The Burbler-in-Chief adds his congratulations to those elected to the party committees.

6. Lib Dem committee election results on ‘Costigan Quist’s’ Himmelgarten Café blog.
“Congratulations to all those elected. Doubtless you’ll all gain many hours of fulfilment and pleasure in those meetings. As you wield all that power, don’t forget us little people who put you there.”

7. Fifth most visited Lib Dem blog on Nich Starling’s Norfolk Blogger blog.
Congratulations appear to be the theme of this week’s Golden Dozen – so let me add mine to all those listed.

And now to the five blog-posts that come highly recommended regardless of the number of Aggregator click-throughs they attracted. And as is now traditional we’re using the LibDig widget to select some of the posts from the seven days in question which you’ve most ‘dug’. But, remember, if you want to highlight a Lib Dem blog article published in the past seven days – your own, or someone else’s – using the steam-powered method of e-mail all you have to do is drop me a line at [email protected] (providing the web-link and author, and any tagline comment you care to have published).

8. Baby P at PMQs
on Lynne Featherstone’s Parliament & Haringey Diary blog.
Lynne helps restore some much-needed dignity to Prime Minister’s Questions. Click here for full coverage of Baby P via Lynne’s blog.

9. The morning after the day before on Baroness Ros Scott’s Because Baronesses are People Too blog.
“Despite the predictions of Lib Dem Voice, our own canvass data and the numbers of supporters on the website, I refused to believe that a win on that scale was possible. And continued to, right up to the moment the result was announced.” That’ll learn you, Ros.

10. Putting out leaflets brings the election process “into disrepute” – Labour
on Jonathan Wallace’s blog.
“the idea that putting out information to voters in an election brings the democratic process into disrepute is mindbogglingly ludicrous”. Quite.

11. Female Role Models, and Reality TV on Jennie Rigg’s Yorksher Gob blog.
Submitted by Joe Otten via libdig.co.uk: “’Why must female MPs embrace shoulderpads and Jimmy Choos?’ [and what are Jimmy Choos?]”

12. Futurbama on James Graham’s Quaequam Blog!
Submitted by Caron via libdig.co.uk: “Science Fiction through the recent presidencies – brilliant”

That’s it for this week. Happy blogging.
