From the Sunday Mirror:
One of David Cameron’s Shadow Cabinet has been exposed for misleading the public after suggesting his London base is a leaky ex-council flat with faulty wiring.
In fact Shadow Work and Pensions Secretary Chris Grayling is a wealthy landlord with FOUR homes worth at least £2million…
Mr Grayling said [in an interview published on Saturday]: “I have an old council flat near Victoria Station. The bathroom used to leak and the wiring in the kitchen once gave me an electric shock. There’s an image that people in the Shadow Cabinet all come from the same background, which isn’t true.”
In reality, Mr Grayling is even richer than many of his Tory colleagues, with two houses and a flat in London AND a family home in Surrey.
Aside from the misleading nature of the quote Chris Grayling gave in the interview, it’s also notable that he is usually the Conservative Party’s ‘attack dog’, criticising people in other parties with allegations of double standards and ethical lapses.

Is he related to Peter Rachman?
Does he really need a London Flat surely he can get a train home to Surrey of an evening from Victoria.
Note the words “used to”. For all the English Language failures out there, that’s past tense. So perhaps it is the Sunday Mirror that is being “economical with the truth”. Perish the thought that one of our great journals of record should do such a thing. Oh, sorry – it’s the Sunday Mirror we’re talking about.
I was wondering if he was related to John McCain, who was unable to recall, when asked, just how many houses he owned. Like McCain, I’m no longer sure of the answer, but I believe that it was about eight. Tough number to pull off the top of your head, you know.
As to the comment by Fergus, the words “used to” were applied to the leaky aspect of his flat. However, the present tense words “I have” came before the elaborations about the property. I’m not sure who’s journalistic standards you hold in such high regard, but you may wish to rethink your position on the Sunday Mirror. Or at least this article.
