Welcome to my day (and what a day it’s going to be) – 9 November 2016

Back again for another stint, as Caron is still quite rightly focused on Bob, and I suppose that it’s appropriate that a member of the Party’s International Relations Committee should be at the wheel today. As I write, polling stations are beginning to close across the United States, and, as the end of what can only be described as one of the most unpleasant election campaigns of recent years is reached, I’ll be covering the results in the morning, picking out some of the more interesting results. I may even reminisce a bit.

My family members in New York, Massachusetts, New Jersey and California have voted – as far as I can tell, all Democrats – but the interesting places are all far from them. Florida, Nevada, New Hampshire and North Carolina are high on the list of key bellweather states, which favours Hillary before we start – many of them need to be in the Republican column for Donald Trump to have a realistic shot.

Anyone fancy committing themselves to a prediction?

Watching this coming in as we speak. When I heard about the huge turnout I immediately thought this will be either a massive anti-trump vote…. Or it would be like the referendum, the massive turnout being people who’d not voted for a long time voting for chance and against an establishment candidate.

I am going to call this now, I think it is an anti-establishment vote and depressingly I think it will be President Trump…. I hope I am wrong, I really do!
