Worth repeating!
In some wards (eg in Uttlesford & St Albans) the LibDem vote actually went up but the higher turnout (presumably Tories who had abstained last time round) meant we lost seats.
For the full picture you also need to factor in the authorities where we were the leading group under NOC, but are no longer. Malvern Hills, for example.
St Albans no longer has legal overall control.
But we have the mayoralty and casting vote.
And although we lost 2 seats in the district (one by 16 compared to by 300 last year) in St Albans Constituency we got about 44% compared to Con on ca 33 and a 5% swing from Con to us compared to 2006.
Actyually I think there may well have been an improved performance in the Hitchin and Harpenden wards compared to 2006 as well but have not done the maths.
