If you publicly accuse someone of lying, they should be able to produce evidence to protect themselves.
Even if you are a high and mighty chief whip and the accused is a lowly frontline policewoman.
She has to demonstrate she is honest to keep her job.
Evidently there is no such requirement for politicians.
