‘Our Shirl’, Baroness Williams of Crosby, is the Lib Dem representative on tonight’s BBC Question Time (BBC1 and online, 10.35 pm GMT), – a perpetual favourite of the QT producers, and always guaranteed to give a virtuoso performance.
Shirley will be appearing alongside Labour’s Housing Minister Margaret Beckett (still there, after all these years), the Conservative shadow secretary for culture, media and sport (and rhyming slang) Jeremy Hunt, TV commentator, Sun wine columnist (yes, really) and former England rugby player Brian Moore, and associate editor of the Telegraph Simon Heffer (who vies with Peter Hitchens for the title of most humourless right-wing nutjob).
If you’re tuning in to watch, remember: don’t get angry, get commenting.

Simon Heffer hasn’t even spoken yet and I already feel angry with him.
I am waiting for the question on the EU ruling on vegetables and watch Shirley and Simon have a good ole knuckle fight.
Is it me of does Simon Heffer bear a passing resemblance to Victor Crosby, one time contendor of Alan B’stards’s crown of Most Right Wing Tory.

Note the clapometer went off the scale when Shirley Williams mentioned tax cuts. Lost Prime Minister alert! 😉
If you really want the panel (well 1/5th) to combust ask a question about crooked feeds at scrums 🙂
Don’t get me bloody started on scrum feeds that aren’t straight down the middle…
paper work is a problem in social work, i told them ( i had a senior role in social work until recently) that it is the process not the paperwork. still with a very high turnover low moral and the public who simply don’t understand the diffcults and dangers social worker face it is a matter of time until the next death didn’t say that tonight did they
oh good more London stuff
shirl low tackles Brian.
Its an up and under !!!
Simon Heffer is behaving himself tonight. That’s a shame
Rugby bloke’s a bit harsh isn’t he…
Alun – looks like you are out of luck !!
They were all pretty crap on the alcohol question…
Good suggestion Shirl about community service – cleaning up the vomit!
Could I comment the New Zealand approach – up to $NZ 10,000 penalty on a licensee that allows a person to get drunk on their premises ( about £3000 )
Shirley had a great night with much deserved applause, but I thought Brian was good value too. Dimbleby clearly didn’t know how to handle him, and to be honest he himself couldn’t quite make the format work for his contributions. Perhaps the truth is that there isn’t currently a space in the schedule for the more developed panel discussion programme that he could have provoked very well.
Agree with Duncan. I also thought that Jeremy Hunt is one of the more fluent Tory performers. Get Redwood back on!
