It’s not often that Conservative London Assembly Member Brian Coleman comes over as a shy, quiet, introverted man who likes to shun the public spotlight.
But I’m sure that’s why he is proposing to ban members of the London Fire Authority from asking him questions at future meetings. Nothing to do with wanting to avoid scrutiny for his actions, I’m sure.
Just as it was his shrinking violet nature that previously made him ban both questions and TV cameras from a meeting.
But a little unfortunate given the national Conservative Party’s frequent message about how important transparency and accountability is, don’t you think? What Brian Coleman is doing doesn’t really fit with what David Cameron and Eric Pickles are telling others to do. I wonder if they will take any action though or just hope that the media don’t notice the difference between what they say and what he does…

Doesn’t fit with the shameless self-promoter called Brian Coleman!
I can’t understand how he gets re-elected everytime – no one round Barnet seems to like him.
” I wonder if they will take any action though or just hope that the media don’t notice the difference between what they say and what he does…”
Heaven forbid any politician would do that in the name of short term expediency or naked self interest.
@rosalind – may have something to do with the fact that the Labour party have truly shocking lamentable & weak leadership in Cllr Alison Moore and the LibDems are invisible and down to only three Councillors in the borough.
