Here’s the Lib Dems’ Vince Cable on 14 September 2013:
And here’s the Tories’ George Osborne – four months later – on 10 January 2014:
Oops, sorry, wrong link. This is apparently what he meant to say (17 January 2014):
Glad that’s all clear, then.

It makes a very welcome change to see the Lib Dems and Tories competing with each other in supporting above inflation pay increases for those on the minimum wage.
However I heard it explained by a member of the LPC that it is their job to try and increase the minimum wage as much as possible without increasing unemployment, and their decisions have nothing to do with the political parties.
So the credit for this lies with all 3 political parties; Labour for introducing the MW and the LPC, and the Lib Dems and Tories for not scrapping them.
But he is still against living wage 🙁

Inflation has surprised people by coming down. Deflation is an economic disaster. This is an ideal time to increase the minimum wage as it will push inflation back up. Osborne is interested in the economy, not people.
