It’s almost 9pm and time for this week’s hotly awaited Have I got News for You. Have you got your popcorn and glass of wine ready? We’re about to be off…
So Tim’s on Paul’s team..
If you are only just seeing this now and haven’t watched the programme, you can do so here on iPlayer.
First question is about the Russian jet shot down by Turkey. Ian’s already had a bit of a go at Tim “It’s ok for you to have an opinion, you’re not going to be PM for a while.” Bit of self-deprecating humour from Tim: “I don’t need to write to my MPs, I can just talk to them.” He was making a little huddle sign with his arms at this point.
A good start for @timfarron #HIGNFY come on Tim π

@timfarron giving a damn good, reasoned stance on Camerons obsession with bombing in Syria #HIGNFY β Thomas Adams (@Ldstrawberry) November 27, 2015
Β Then the conversation got to the Autumn Statement. Tweets were shown from all parties taking credit for the tax credits u-turn. Tim missed a trick there – he could have slipped in that Labour didn’t vote for our motion to kill tax credits cuts in the Lords but, hell, this is a comedy programme, after all.

May I just say @timfarron is a rather funny man, so smiley. Keep on trucking Tim #HIGNFY

Not seeing the resemblance, myself:
Is this lad TIm actually Ian Hislop’s son!!? π #HIGNFY β Andy Barton (@Auchepis) November 27, 2015
Well, there’s a surprise. Jo Brand just did a brilliant impression of Tony Benn singing Alesha Dixon and Tim seemed to recognise it. Not his kind of music, I would have thought. Brilliant tip for women of a certain age from Jo Brand – Solpadeine Plus. One of several such smartass tweets:
The leader of the Lib Dems is on #hignfy – I didn’t know such a post existed anymore

First compared to Ian Hislop, then Russell Brand
Tim Farron’s #HIGNFY reaction shots are so similar to Russel Brand’s in 2009 β Kav Kaushik (@Kav_Kaushik) November 27, 2015
And it’s all over: Ian and Josh win 6-4. I feel slightly short-changed. There was almost no Tim for the last 10 minutes. Perhaps we’ll see more of him on the extended version, Have I Got More News for You, on Monday night. And some post match analysis:
I don’t normally like #HIGNFY but I enjoyed it tonight. @timfarron did a great job of representing the #libdems. So proud to be a member!

Well done @timfarron By any standards #HIGNFY is a baptism of fire and you emerged out of it well. Looking forward to next time. β Dr Bel Brooks-Gordon (@BelindaBG) November 27, 2015
Also even though yer man came off v well, they will never have as wondrous a Lib Demmer on as Charlie K. *sniff* #hignfy
β Claire Hennessy (@clairehennessy) November 27, 2015
A rather more circumspect analysis:
Tim Farron was funnier than citizen khan and didnt make a tit of himself. thats a win #hignfy β captainsoulless (@chrisjlatimer) November 27, 2015
The guest publication this week was a magazine about ferrets.
Ferrets, for when rats just aren’t long enough. #HIGNFY

High praise from unexpected quarters:
Much as it pains me to say, turns out I actually quite like @timfarron. #HIGNFY has made me warm to him!
