This is a blatant rip-off of my co-editor Stephen Tall’s piece yesterday giving all our MPs’ first tweets. It must have taken him ages to embed them all. I’ve seen the list described as “adorable” and it is a really useful trip down Memory Lane.
I have much less to do in my shameless copy, but I thought it would be interesting to see what first utterings came from the Liberal Democrat Voice team. The first thing I noticed is that we were all pretty early adopters. It was the much missed Andrew Reeves who got me into it way back when you did it by text message. I actually love Twitter. I’ve made some real life friends on it and it was a lifeline to me when I had Glandular Fever and was ill for months way back in 2009. I love its randomness and the fact that one minute you can be slugging out the finer points of Liberal Democrat policy and the next giving Jenson Button’s fiancee advice on how to fix her computer.
Anyway, here are the team members’ first tweets.

I am trying to work out if Twitter is useful in any way to me.

I think after 72,800 tweets in 5.5 years, we can say that it definitely has been.

Allure is not quite the word I think most people would associate with modern day Twitter.

There is logic to this. If you check out the date, it’s just before the 2007 local elections, and you could text that to a certain number to get the results straight to your phone.

And he probably had been, too. Apparently the first people he followed were Barack Obama and Brian Paddick.

Now, if you’re thinking I’ve forgotten Mary Reid, the Divine Ms Duffett and our wonderful bursar, Mr Alex Foster, I could never do that. Mary isn’t on Twitter yet and Alex and Helen’s tweets are protected so I can’t access them.
I couldn’t resist, however, looking for my predecessor Mark Pack’s. Don’t pour yourself a stiff drink. There is no shock to be had.

@ Jennie,
Only current members of the team, as opposed to former ones… 🙂
