Hull City Council: most improved in the country

Many congratulations to Carl Minns and his team in Hull on this much deserved acolade:

Hull City Council has been crowned the most improved in England, six years after it came bottom in a survey of 150 local authorities.

Hull beat four other councils to win the ‘Most Improved Title’ at the Local Government Chronicle awards…

Leader of Hull City Council, Carl Minns said: “The most important factor is to ensure that residents get excellent quality services but it is always good to have external recognition of the improvements to services.” (BBC)

The local newspaper adds:

Reductions in litter, fly posting and graffiti, a drop in the level of crime and improvements in education were cited as some of the reasons for the award.

Curses, they beat Lib Dem controlled Northampton Borough, also shortlisted for the award and also a council that has recovered from the bottom of the league since we took control.

Being beated by another Lib Dem controlled council is our only consolation. Well done Hull.

Hull is proof positive that where L/D `s are put in control the electorate get all the benefits. This accolade is well earned and good luck!

  • It’s not difficult to be the most improved if you start at the bottom! Looking at films on Youtube you can see rubbish and graffiti which is a disgrace for anyone working for this council – I bet you don’t allow this comment though because it disagrees with your one sided image!

  • I agree with ‘haha’ and ‘what a joke’: Hull City Council is as smelly as the dog muck found all over Hull’s streets. Most improved – with only 5 councils running out of 150?? That’s like some survey of 87 women out of 6 million for a shampoo product – laughable
