News from the troubled Labour campaign for Mayor of London:
The official in charge of the London Labour Party has been removed after saying that Ken Livingstone, Labour’s candidate for the mayoralty, “cannot win” next year’s election if he continues as now.
Hilary Perrin, Labour’s London regional director, has been moved back to her previous role overseeing all the regional directors after Ken and his chief of staff, Simon Fletcher, appealed to Ed Miliband’s office. Another London Labour official, Paul Harrington, has also left his job. An awayday to plan the campaign, supposed to take place last Friday, was cancelled. (Daily Telegraph)

Would LDV rather have Boris than Ken, and if so why?
This is only good news if:
1) Brian has a good chance of over-taking Ken
2) We can persuade Labour voters to give us enough 2nd preferences to beat Boris.
And it wasn’t all made up by the Torygraph.
Wouldn’t we all prefer Ken than idiot Boris anyway?
Ken’s an idiot as well. And Boris, whatever his faults, has never used his office to honour terrorists, dictators or bigots. As a Lib Dem, I haven’t decided who will get my supplementary vote, but it sure will not be Ken.
Ken and Boris are perfect examples of directly elected mayors who play to the gallery. And now we’re all to have directly elected police chiefs – oh dear.
No wonder Ken wants his old job back!
London Mayor salary £143,000
Lots of Tories and Labour people are going to be earning a fortune over a 4 year term!
Elected Police Chiefs £122,000
Note the huge deposit required to stand in these police chief elections (circa £5,000). Only parties or wealthy individuals will be able to stand. How democratic (NOT).
