Lib Dem Job watch – lots of campaigning jobs going across the country

There are some excellent jobs going in the Liberal Democrats at the moment. The most prestigious is the Head of Press. The party is seeking someone to:

lead a small but effective media team to promote the Liberal Democrats and the party Leader Tim Farron in regional and national media. You will be expected to lead the party’s mission to secure daily coverage in national and regional print, broadcast and online news media.

As a key player in the wider Liberal Democrat team, the Head of Press will take a significant role in the rebuilding and fightback of Liberal Democrats, offering creative and engaging ideas, and take a leading role in interacting with journalists and key influencers on social media.

This role will be focused on delivering positive coverage for the party and for candidates of all levels across the United Kingdom, as well as be able to inspire best practice to help volunteers support the party’s media operation.

The Head of Press will also take a lead in managing crisis communications, and have a clear ability to work well under pressure.

The master of understatement, don’t you think?

If you are good at design and political messaging, you might be interested in the content designer post based at LDHQ in London:

The post is extremely varied, and requires design support for both online and print communications, for both internal and external audiences.

Online, the role covers the full spectrum of what’s required of a modern and creative political campaign, including web design, analytics, digital marketing and targeting, social media engagement and maximizing the use and potential of the party’s own website.

As part of a small creative team, the content designers will undertake a full audit of design across the party’s communications and update the party’s style guide.

Both these jobs close on 8th February.

There are some which close in the next few days, though. If you want to be party of Caroline Pidgeon’s professional campaign team, you need to apply by next Friday for two posts.

Wednesday is the deadline for a role as Conference Administrator:

The successful candidate will have previous experience in an administrative role. They will be highly organised, have excellent time management and will be able to effectively prioritise their workload in a fast paced environment. Someone with attention to detail who can respond to queries in a timely and polite manner and can switch between tasks quickly at peak times.

Over at W4MP, Alistair Carmichael is looking for an intern for his office in Parliament:

The successful candidate will be well organised and able to demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills. A positive attitude and good sense of humour also helps in this office. Sympathy with the aims and policies of the Liberal Democrats is desirable.

Tasks will include:

• Drafting correspondence to MPs, government ministers and constituents
• Databasing and general office administration
• Drafting press releases
• Conducting research and preparing briefings to support the MP’s parliamentary work
• Liaising with the constituency offices, and other MP’s offices

Be warned, he is a bit of a stickler for perfect punctuation and grammar so we recommend that you brush up your skills in that area, but otherwise he’s great fun.

Elsewhere, Gateshead and Cheltenham are looking for campaign assistants while Norwich South Lib Dems seek an intern for the Council Group.

Finally, Yorkshire and the Humber Lib Dems are seeking a Communications and Admin Officer to:

Maintain and develop regional communications networks including Connect and Nationbuilder
Ensure the production and despatch of regional electronic communications
Provide administrative support to sub regional training and development activity including Regional Action Days
Provide administrative support to fundraising activities
Support the work of the Regional Treasurer
Provide administrative support to the Regional Team including attending the Regional Executive, taking minutes and sending out the agendas
Provide administrative support to the organising of the Regional Conference including making bookings, taking registrations etc

If any of these jobs appeals to you, get your applications in soon – and good luck.

Are all these extra staff? I thought the party was in some financial difficulties?
