Manifesto front page: Welsh and Scottish versions

As we said in our post about the front page of the manifesto, the Welsh and the Scots would have slightly different versions. Here they are:

The Welsh version says we’ll deliver a stronger Wales, with more powers, home rule and fair funding. Devolution means that our priorities on health and education need to be tailored. We’ve already ensured that the Pupil Premium, which delivers extra money to help disadvantaged kids in school, has been implemented in Wales and say we’ll deliver continued investment. On health the priority is more resources and safe staffing levels, consistent with Kirsty Williams’ bill to put staffing levels on a statutory footing.

In Scotland, five priorities become six. Transfer power to London from Scotland and home rule for the UK is added in:

Have the gremlins been at your site? Or Mr Farage?

I think you mean ‘Transfer power from London To Scotland’ and ‘Home Rule within the UK’??

What a shame us English are assumed to be scared off by any kind of devolution or constitutional reform so it doesn’t get on the front page of the other manifesto.

  • I see that 3 words in the Welsh language appear on the cover of the Welsh version of the manifesto.
Did someone forget to remove them ?

The style of the manifesto front is rather chidish and reminds one of the sort of thing which a small scented candle making firm might put out as its annual report if it got a discounted job from the intern of a marketing company.

  • Mark Pack on his blog illustrates a Welsh offering that is even worse than the above —

“…The man who campaigned to remove the dragon from the Welsh flag because it represents the ‘sign of Satan’ is standing as a UKIP candidate.
George Hargreaves, has been selected by UKIP for the Coventry South seat for the General Election.
In 2007, as self-elected leader of the Welsh Christian Party, he launched a campaign to have the ‘evil’ dragon removed from the Welsh flag.”

Nobody could accuse him of being “insipid”. By the way, what is the Welsh for “insipid” ?
