A variety of political financial stories this week, including:
- The Speaker and Parliamentary authorities lose their fight to try to keep details of MPs’ expenses secret.
- Nick Clegg publishes details of his Parliamentary expenses and announces that all the Liberal Democrat frontbenchers will follow suit from July.
- More bad financial news for the Labour Party with further tales of it being on the verge of bankrupcy (though I find it hard to believe the unions would actually let the party go under; it’s more a matter of how these financial problems could give them more power within the party in future in return for them continuing to bail out the party).
- Over at The Times, Anatole Kaletsky compares Gordon Brown’s record with that of Enron. Ouch.
- UPDATE: Waltham Forest Conservative Councillor Graham Sinclair (who is himself a magistrate) has been charged with benefit fruad. The trial is set for September.

How about the other financial stories of the week emerging around BOJO:
1. BOJO’s other income – I see he’s restrated working at the Torygraph – earned £250,000 per annum – he’s still MP for Henley, other incomes? I would think a few London voters might be surprised as they probably thought teh Mayor’s job was full time….
2. The appointments of advisors and key post holders – their remuneration and the apparent circumventing of rules / controls.
Not sure BOJO hasn’t already started off on a weak tack… Hope that London Lib Dems realise that the fight back should be starting now.
