Let’s hit the Tories for this one as strongly as they hit us for our policy suggestion they don’t like. “Tories – the paedophiles’ friends” etc.
He never ceases to amaze me. Claims to stand for civil liberties but supports the notion of arrest warrants being issued in foreign countries, based on the laws of those countries, for alleged criminals in Britain. Its not good enough. Clegg is a nuisance and he doesn’t do anything good for Britain.
I support the principle of Europe-wide policing, but it should be done in a way that is consistent with natural justice. The UK opting out is not the answer. The answer is to pushing for reform of th eEuropean Arrest Warrant, and ensuring that new cross-border powers come with appropriate safeguards. The Lib Dems, and especially the party’s MEPs and MEP candidates, should not just be saying “It’s a good thing”, but saying how cross-border policing and justice measures should work in a liberal Europe, and how they will work towards this.
I agree with Nick Clegg. In my eyes we should stand up for people’s Human Rights but what we seem to lose sight of here is that criminal gangs etc very much operate in Europe (of which we are part) who’re hell bent infringing are human rights. Britain plays a leading role in its co-operation with other European countries on these very issues. As for the European arrest warrant, one of these was used in returning Jeremy Forrest from France to this country. Don’t believe all you are told by either the UK press or UKIP both of whom tell lies about what happens in Europe!
