A story you might have missed from earlier this week from the BBC:
The Liberal Democrat campaign bus arrived in Poole, Dorset, with a bang on Thursday. Unfortunately, it was the sound of the bus rolling over a pigeon.
Cue all the journalists reporting it on social media and then the humour started. Click on the link to see them do their worst. We even got a mention:
The @libdemvoice Twitter feed is advertising “the funniest dinner you’ll ever have”. Will #pigeon be on the menu? #GE2015

The pigeon was not the only creature to suffer as a result of this election this week. This report from the Scotsman should remind us all, from all parties, to be careful when we are out electioneering. Poor little West Highland Terrier Jack lost a leg after a leafletter accidentally let him out and he was hit by a van. So the golden rule is: leave gates as you find them. Even if it’s your 1594th leaflet of the day.

I saw the bus on Gogglebox last night.
No pigeons were killed but a lot of Liberal Democrat enthusiasm probably died as the programme unfolded.
The bus was looking forlorn and lost in an empty car-park, it was not in the constituency it was supposed to be in and noody was there except some enterprising Labour Party supporters who were sufficiently organised to have their own large posters to hold aloft.
This was not lost on the various Gogglebox families viewing the PR disaster. Their reactions spoke volumes.
I began to wish the bus was back in The Hedgehog Sanctuary. It was that bad!
Nick and Danny stood alone in the rain looking abandonned.
The best reaction they got was saddened sympathy from the Gogglebox vicar.
The words of the Siddiqui family (those three guys are usually on the ball) said it all. I will not try and paraphrase, but it spoke volumes.
The broadcasting authorities probably should have run a warning at the beginning of the programme along the lines of — ” If you are a loyal member of the Liberal Democrats, look away now.”

A pigeon, or the bird from the LibDem logo?
@ John Tilley
It’s a shame, then, John, that you weren’t able to make it to Claremont Gardens in Kingston (South London) last Monday, when the Lib Dem campaign bus arrived. Nick was in great form, the sun was shining, loads of supporters were there to greet him, and then meetings with local parents in the garden of the Grove Pub, plus lots of interviews with the media, plus a brilliant Lib Dem guard of honour from local supporters, including many Koreans, when Nick left, to baord the bus, to chants of “Well done Nick” !
I wonder if Cleggie will have a similar experience to CK in 2005 who, in retrospect, was noted to have spent most of his time visiting seats which the LibDems did not win.

Yes Julian Heather it was a shame. Next time I have a bone marrow transplant and follow-up treatment I’ll be sure to ask the Royal Marsden to plan all my dates to fit in with Nick Clegg’s diary.

Well-targeted then: you don’t want the leader wasting their time in seats that are going to be won anyway.
So we can plot in which constituencies the LibDems perceive themselves to be in trouble by tracking the movements of the Leader?
