Saltire hunting

imageOne of the superb, and very enjoyable, things about Liberal Democrat Voice, at the moment, is that there is excellent coverage of the Scottish debate. This is helped by having a Highlander co-editor, the great Caron Lindsay. There are about two interesting posts a day about Scotland at the moment in the run-up to the referendum.

As honorary photo editor, or “photo-fairy” as I encourage the team to call me, this leaves me with a bijou problemette. At the height of our powers here at LDV Towers, we like to illustrate each post. But there are only so many Scots photos one can lay one’s hands through the good offices of Flickr/CCL.

So at the end of July we had, frankly, a Saltire shortage.

Solution. I was on holiday in Scotland and attended the games at Hampden Park twice. I virtually salivated at the prospect. If you’re going to get some good shots of Saltires, it’s at the national stadium with Scots en masse undergoing hysteria levels of patriotism (quite rightly).

So our Saltire stock is now reasonably bouyant, helped by the photos above and below, both from Hampden Park.

Hope you are similarly prepared with English flags for the equally important debate about powers for our counties and cities , so limited by comparison with what Scotland already has! Not to mention removing the outrageous anomaly whereby Scottish members of the UK Parliament can vote on my health and education issues, whereas my MP (ironically born a Scot…) cannot vote on such matters affecting his homeland.
