Stephen Williams doing a Reddit Ask Me Anything tonight at 6:30 pm

Stephen Williams MPEarlier this year, we featured Communities Minister and MP for Bristol West Stephen Williams’ Reddit questionnaire where he invited constituents to “Ask me anything.” And they did, too.

Here’s a wee snippet:

First of all, I tweeted you support on the day of the Marriage Act vote and you replied. Thank you for that, you made my day on both counts.

Now for a question: I initially supported a boycott of Starbucks and Amazon for non-payment of UK tax. After a year, however, I feel that the blame needs to shift onto government for not closing the loopholes and being aggressive enough with corporations. Who’s the problem here? Slow, unwilling government, or conniving CEOs?

Thanks – look forward to 29th March and first same sex marriages. This is a landmark social reform that will be remembered for decades to come.

Re tax avaoidance – I agree, consumer pressure is important as these huge cos are brand aware, but govt must act too. Last year the UK lead the way in the G8 forum of major economies in tackling tax avoidance. At home this govt has done more than any other – prob because the Lib Dems see it as an important issue and even our coalition colleagues recognise need for extra money to bridge deficit!

He’s doing the same thing again tonight at 6:30 pm here. So if you have a burning question you’ve always wanted to ask him, go here and ask it.

We see MPs making use of Twitter and Facebook all the time, but not so much Reddit so fair play to Stephen for reaching out into this part of the internet.

This is good stuff. I browse the language forums on Reddit occasionally, it seems to have quite a lot of contributors and a format that is easy to follow.
