Tim Farron on life in coalition

Newly elected Liberal Democrat President Tim Farron (who takes office on 1 January) was the guest speaker last night at the Islington Liberal Democrats AGM, so I took the chance to film this short piece:

    I wish i could share Tim’s enthusiasm. But, in truth, I cannot.

    I voted against the coalition at the Birmingham Conference. I believe that events since then have fully vindicated my decision. The performance of this government, and of the LibDem members thereof, has exceeded my worst expectations.

    Cameron now has our parliamentary party right where he wants it. Before the election he referred to Clegg as a political joke. How he must be laughing now.
