What’s happening in York? Lib Dem Spring Conference agenda now published

It’s less than five weeks to York Spring Conference. Many of us will be looking forward to returning to the beautiful city to debate, be trained and to learn from exhibitors and discuss issues at fringe meetings.

The agenda has now been published. This is your chance to go through it now and work out what motions you might like to amend, to plan out your diary for the weekend and not to just leave it till you’re actually on the train to York.

You can go to debates on access to driving lessons, preserving trial by jury, revitalising town centres, universities, mental health, Donald Trump and Council finance.

There are speeches from MPs Anna Sabine and James MacCleary and Watford Mayor Peter Taylor, as well as Ed, of course.

You can help shape future policy by going to consultative sessions on international security, primary healthcare and defending democracy.

And on the fringe, we have the LGA and ALDC celebrating the achievements of our Lib Dem Councillors, a must see from Compass with Vikki Slade and Bobby Dean asking if we are a progressive party, the Joseph Rowntree Foundation on getting big money out of politics the Social Liberal Forum discuss liberalism as an antidote to populism, Lib Dem Women have their usual (and legendary) cocktails and mocktails and LGBT+ Lib Dems are discussing threats to LGBT+ rights here and in the USA.  And, of course, their is the inimitable Glee.

It’s going to be a fantastic weekend, and I’m looking forward to seeing everybody.

Amendments, questions and emergency motions must be submitted by 12 noon on Monday 2 March here.

Ecclesiastical, Medieaval and Tudor historians among those coming will particularly enjoy it…

Kier Starmer is a decent man, who was wholly out of his depth as PM. Everyone should read Ian Dunt's assessment on his substack https://iandunt.substack.com/ ...
